Mommy I’m a READER!

Yesterday Casey picked Zach up from school because I was in an interview and apparently he brought home his first book. At dinner last night he told me “Mommy, I’m a reader now” and that was it. This morning he showed my his six page book with single words in it like “arm, lips, etc” and we read it together. He can really sound out the words and it’s totally cool. He had to take it back to school this morning but lost his ziploc baggie with his name on it. And it’s still lost this afternoon… Easy enough to replace I suppose. He loves to sounds things out and spells things he sees to me all the time. For example – at the grocery store “Mom, that says L-I-G-H-T B-E-E-R, yep it sure does, ” we are going to be doomed faster than we knew it. Spelling out words to be secretive won’t work much longer…
