One of the many things having children has done to me, turn me into a slight germaphobe or a mysophobe for the scientific folks out there. The boys have been miserably ill for more than a week now. Zach has been very sick for ten days now and Casey J is coming on a week. First thing this morning I called the pediatricians office and got an early afternoon appointment. Did I mention we’ve gone through about 3 bottles of Tylenol and 2 bottles of Advil in the last two weeks?
We arrived on time only to find many other sick kids waiting too, they were about an hour behind on appointments. So I sat on the floor (all the chairs were full) with Casey J next to me and Zachary laying on the floor with his head in my lap (he fell asleep as did my butt and legs). After fifteen minutes Casey J began begging to “go home” and there was so much noise in the office (did I mention I have whatever they have – sore throat, fever, etc). We finally got called and Zach did not want them to take his temperature. The doctor also looked at Casey J (his eye is a little pink, a sign of a certain type of virus) and said both of their throats looked bad (why they won’t eat anything) and gave them both a 10 day run of antibiotics. Hopefully that will kick whatever this is in the booty so that they can enjoy their Christmas morning after Santa Claus visits!
The last week and a half of the boys being sick has put me behind on my Christmastime tasks. Cards are done but I have no stamps yet, still need to do a bit more shopping, and we completely missed Casey’s family Christmas because everyone was sick. The Alebis family Christmas was just Zach and I, and Zach (**warning – this is about to get gross) threw-up brownie and milk on my aunt’s white couch. I cringe just writing that. After apologizing profusely she said it was no big deal, plus she had been wanting to have that couch re-done! The small visiting I was able to do was very nice though.
So here’s praying the new year brings health to this house!!!
