Little feet grow at an alarming rate, they say 1/2 a size every 4 months (so by that calculation 2 full sizes a year). This time the boys feet were about the same size, but they had just plain worn out both the inside and outside of their shoes. Oh, and they were a bit stinky too. We tend to be a bit picky when it comes to the boys shoes, we prefer ones with actual shoe laces, not velcro or zip-ups, or elastic stretchy things. We want them to need to learn how to tie their shoes, yes it could be convenient to have those other shoes, but we want to teach them to not be lazy! So onward with the story.
Casey John was totally un-thrilled by the idea of trying on new shoes, he was quite content with the ones he had on his feet. Zach was excited except when it comes to finding shoes for him, I have to begin by looking at the size first then the style of the shoe. My boys have some xtra wide feet like their daddy.
I located some size 13XW for Zach (only one of three we could find) called Reptile shoes (they have a little eye on them and look like hiking shoes). He was quite satisfied saying they looked like “Steve shoes” and he was able to run, jump, and walk in them. I found the right size and style for Casey J (11XW), a different color than his brother since the sizes are getting closer it’s hard to tell who’s is who’s if they are the same color. He didn’t really care for them, wore his old shoes all the way home. We also found some neat fishing shoes for both of them. They got some similar to grandpa’s Crocs. I think I’ll stick with my Columbia flip-flops and continue the island look!
Thanks to grandma for outfitting us with some new shoes! We love you!
