“Mommy, I want to go to the doctor who has the big toy with beads and the really big fish quarium, NOT THIS DOCTOR MOMMY.” Yes he leaves the “a” off of aquarium. That doctor is the ortho and there are never any pokies or medicine there. He has unfortunately come to associate his regular pediatrician with him having to get poked for blood work and immediately goes into panic mode when we drive into the parking lot. This morning it was quick enough though, it was over before he had time to scream too much. Zach again warned them that they dare not put a band-aid on his brother because he doesn’t like them. Then they spent all day picking on each other and driving us mad, but at least he cares about that darn band-aid.
Yesterday we spent 4 hours on the trip and doctors visit to the ophthalmologist in Austin to check Casey J’s eyes. Guess what, their perfect. I liked the eye test for little ones, instead of various E’s it’s little symbols like a cake or truck (Jeep) or a horse with a man (Cowboy), he aced that test too, even held the spoon on his eyes by himself. He did not like the drops to dilate his eyes which when dilated slightly reminded me of Gizmo – you know, that thing from the movie Gremlins. But he did like the cool paper sunglasses he got to wear (and the yummy Starburst I bribed them with). Zach hooked up with a girl in the waiting room (so his daddy’s son), while we waited and waited in the office they played with a few different kids and it wasn’t to bad.
We arrived just in time for Zach to go to his first Karate meeting with Mr. Diaz (they are right across the street from the shop). So we sat in the office while he went over some moves with Zach, they teach respect (yes and no sir), focus, and confidence. Zach is so excited and he has his second meeting tomorrow and then he’ll probably be put in the Little Dragon’s class which meets two times a week. We’ll see how that goes. We are awaiting the blood work results….
