Play Mates or Practice Dummies

We spent this weekend working, not on computers but on the underground puppy fence and Christmas lights. We rented a machine to help us dig a small trench all around our yard to bury the wiring for the fence in and then spent the rest of the day covering it up. We turned it down really low to help keep Chelsea’s IQ from plummeting and it seems to work well, she’ll approach the fence hear the beep and vibration and back up (it’s supposed to help keep her in our yard and not wandering around). On Sunday we continued that work a bit and then started putting up Christmas lights, every once in awhile one of the boys would run up crying that the other hit him or was mean to him, etc. As I was watching them play on their tree fort I began to wonder if we had them close enough to give them play mates or practice dummies. They whack on each other fairly regularly, and have some brief moments in between the fighting where I can tell that they probably do love each other. I watch them in the morning at school sit right next to each other every morning on the front porch and every now and then Casey John tells me that they play together on the playground. Ah well I guess I have about 15 more years to figure it out…. Well, I think this will be the “Christmas card photo” for this year –
