Saturday morning, the cold and the wet drove us to decide that it may be better to do some sort of indoor activity and the Space Center popped into my head at breakfast. I hadn’t been since a school field trip in seventh grade and I knew Zach (the one who wants to be an astronaut then a spy) would really like. We found our way an hour down I-45 towards that part of Houston, paid our admission and walked into sheer coolness. The boys were a little overloaded by all the things to do and we had to constantly remind them to stay close. The center is chock-o-block full of things to do. There was a three story play area, simulators, theaters, and many other things to do.

The boys enjoyed playing in the play scape and spent most of the time feeding foam balls into a vacuum and then waiting for the UFO to drop the same foam balls onto their heads. We explored a life size shuttle where we could see the controls and flight chairs, then we landed the space shuttle on the simulators, Zach did the MMU Simulator and did really well making his daddy very proud. We saw the Star Wars exhibit and the “real life R2D2”, a film on the IMAX screen on what it’s like to be an astronaut, walked through the Skylab and more. It was a history lesson on our ventures into space. Casey and I also enjoyed it and think we should go back without the boys so we could read a little more and take more time to look at things. We ate a $22 burger and chicken tenders in the Zero Gravity diner and saw the giant LEGO spaceman.

We had a great time and will definitely do it again, we headed out about three back towards Grandma and Grandpa’s house and stayed there that night and headed home Sunday morning. Quite the full Thanksgiving holiday and yes I know it’s more than a week later and I’m just finishing up but better late than never. I took a lot of photos and you can see them on my flickr account.
