Polly want a juice cup?

Dr. Dolittle & His Parrot

Meet Dr. Dolittle. This little parrot was quite taken with him (kind of like me). We went to the San Antonio Zoo on Saturday along with every other San Antonian, and this was in the bird house where you can get little cups of liquidy food to feed them and some are quite tame. This guy (or gal) flew in and landed square on Big C’s head, then ventured around for awhile, eating his fill. Zach got quite a kick out of letting this birdie eat right out of his hand, Casey John was a bit cranky by this time, he had seen what he came for (the rhinoceros) and was ready to go home. The parrot hung around then as he was getting ready to go left Big C with a icky brown present on his shoulder. I didn’t notice until we were walking out that he had his Margaritaville shirt with a big parrot on the back, maybe this parrot was just getting close to family.

The zoo was fun, they are making progress with the Africa Live! exhibit although the Nile Crocodile exhibit was empty due to “shipping delays”. You could see the Hippos in the water but it was kind of gross if you knew what the “floating bits of hay” in the water were (thanks Mike Rowe and Dirty Jobs). Their favorite part as usual was the reptile house, where all sorts of snakes and lizards reside.

Blue Beauty

We didn’t ride the train or much else, we’d all been up since 7am so we headed home, stopped to eat on the way (bbq of course). The boys had fun and on another bit of news Casey J made it all week without having an accident and used the big boy potty for number twos! After two weeks of trying he did it and Sunday we went to Target and got him Star Wars the Complete Saga for the Wii. It’s what we promised for progress. Although two hours later we had to take it away for the week because he had a small accident. Today back on track though, used the potty at the shop, we know it’s tough because he’s had bowel issues since day two of his life but he’s working really hard at! We are really proud of him. See more zoo photos here.
