So I was struggling to come up with something to post. It’s not that interesting things haven’t happened lately, not that I’ve been consumed by my work (the one that sometimes pays the bills) but my brain has just run out of juice today. I did get to have a nice kid free dinner last night thanks to Big C taking them home and feeding them. I ventured to a small Greek cafe in New Braunfels with some good friends and all though all the food I tried was new I quite enjoyed myself. A bit oniony but tasty none the less. Back to the brain not working, I decided I would post some web pages I find interesting, visit daily, or deem good and useful. So here you go (keep in mind I work in technology everyday so some maybe a bit geeky.)
Other Blogs I read:
- Pioneer Woman – Ree blogs about life on a ranch, home schooling, animals, and photography. I believe I stumbled upon it looking for some Photoshop tips. She also has a cooking blog (very yummy) and is rumored to be starting her own Photo blog.
- Because I Said So – a mom of six blogs about mommy hood in general. I ended up here through an auction she posted on ebay selling Pokemon cards her kids snuck into the shopping cart at the grocery store.
- xkcd – If your not in the computer field or a programmer you probably won’t get most of the comics, but I find them funny 🙂
- Found Magazine – users post interesting things they found, like odd grocery lists, photos from old books etc.
Look out for youself:
- Consumerist – this is a blog made for consumerists, that’s everyone. It has great tips on how to get help with billing problems, customer service, etc.
Buying Online:
- I use eBay to find unique out of date items, Amazon to buy new things (no risk of getting a shoddy deal), and sometimes Craigslist to look for local items.
Photography:
- Snapfish – a great site to print your own digital pictures at a low price
- Flickr – we all know I suffer from this addiction but it’s great to share, organize and print photos, projects and much more.
- Photoshop User – a great place for tips, in conjunction with Scott Kelby’s blog, website and seminars.
I read a few newspapers online almost daily – Austin American Statesman, San Marcos Daily Record, Lockhart Post Register, The Victoria Advocate, BBC, and News.com.au. See I’m worldly. Digg is also a geeks website for getting news.
Music and Videos:
- Pandora – streaming online music (free) and you can choose what kind of artists you’d like the station to play
- iTunes – I’m a traitor, but it was the best place after much research to find and buy the music I wanted.
- youtube – on rare occasion when I want to post a video I’ll put them here. Mostly I make them private so only friends or family can see them.
I could list a ton of helpful tools but I think I’ll save those for another time and/or blog. Maybe you’ll find something interesting out of all this!
