Bad Juju Germs

Flash back to Thursday night – CaseyJ is a little mopey and complains that his swallows hurt, ask to sleep on the couch, settled for falling asleep in our bed. He shows up in our room at 5:30 am Friday morning sounding a bit croaky but sings for us for the next half hour or so and seems okay. As we pull into school he pleads with me not to go because hisĀ  swallows are really hurting (after a consult with dad) we decide to keep him at the shop just in case so he can rest up before our vacation. Through the day he runs a mild fever but manages to drink a milk shake and seems to be a bit better. At 1:30am he comes into our room crying and crawls in our bed with us. He proceeds to take up my entire pillow, curls up in a little ball with his bony feet right in my lower back and not to mention the heat that little guy was putting out. Get some Tylenol in him and after a bit he calms down and falls asleep. Big C put him back in his bed at around 3:30am.

We all got up and went to breakfast then to the shop for a bit before their soccer game. We didn’t let CaseyJ play because he was still not well and on the way home he falls asleep. When we got home we take his temperature and it’s at 103.7 and he’s got a rash, call the clinic, not open. Call dial-a-nurse, answer a million questions, “yep, it sounds like strep, take him to the ER.” Big C takes the little man and heads to Seton in Luling (it’s a bit closer than Dell Children’s in Austin) gets in and out pretty quick. They confirm it is strep and give him the pink (must keep refrigerated) antibiotic. While they are gone I strip all the bed sheets, spray Lysol on everything and try to start packing our bags.

Big C is now not feeling well… You know no one would’ve been sick if we were just staying home for spring break but now that we are going somewhere. CaseyJ will only get better, I’ll chug lots of vitamin C and keep Z Man washing his hands etc. We are all really looking forward to the trip if we can just get rid of the germs! Stay tuned for photos and stories from our first big road trip!!!
