SNOW (even if it’s been plowed to the side of the road)!!!

My boys saw snow for the very first second time today, but really the first time that’ll they be able to remember. The first time was about 3 years ago when the miracle Christmas Day snow happened in Victoria. After discovering the tube hill was closed until Thursday (but after renting ski bibs for it) we decided just to head up the mountain and check it out. Halfway up the road they had a scenic overlook so we stopped to take a few photos. They had also plowed a big hill of snow over in this area and the boys went nuts over it! After a mini snow ball fight and a few photos we continued the drive up the mountain.

Thank you Mr. Snow Plow

Ruidoso Mountains

There was a trail head area at the top of the mountain near the ski trails with more snow (this area had something like 22 inches of fresh snow in the last week) were some snow folks were built and a large scale snow ball building and hurling session went on. In particular the snow mom that was built by CaseyJ with some design features from his dad –

Snow Mom

We spent a bit of time playing in the snow (until our butt’s became too cold) and then headed to the cabin for lunch. Most of the attractions we were looking to do were either closed until next week or it wasn’t ideal with the boys being as young as they are (like horseback riding). After a while we decided maybe a game of bowling would do and then went to get everyone measured for snow boots and skis. We’ll hit the mountain in the morning and although neither one of the boys wants to do the kiddie ski lessons (all day with lunch) we’ll just teach them to ski and take turns on who gets to head up the mountain to have some fun. Jeff has never been skiing either so it should prove to be fun. I’ll try to take a few photos early but I’ll only take my small camera with me skiing. We are having a great time and I’ll leave you with this one:
