Top Off

Back from a long time off – ok, not really any time off. I’ve got the usual excuse of “Holy cow, it’s been busy”. I’ve done some fishing, some work, some crying (yes, it’s summertime and the boys are out of school) or was it from cutting up and onion? I’ll start with a quick post about what’s cool and not so cool about having the top off the jeep for summer.

Why it’s so darn fun:

  1. I become a cool chick in a jeep with the wind in my hair, music up loud. Instead of the soccer van mom we’ve all come to love.
  2. Did I mention I look cool in the jeep?
  3. The salt air of the coast smells great.
  4. Not enough room for the boys to ride in the jeep – therefore besides the wind noise it’s QUIET.
  5. Don’t ever have to worry about locking your keys inside.
  6. Don’t have to worry about opening your door into someone else’s car, or even shutting the door for that matter.
  7. Ice box fits well in the back and can be kept stocked with cool, refreshing beverages for all ages.
  8. Well, there’s more but mainly – it’s cool!!

Reasons why it’s icky:

  1. You can smell every little bit of road kill as you go by, speeding up just wafts the smell farther up your nose.
  2. The sun, it’s hot, and it burns. We have a bikini top but depending on the angle of the sun depends on which part of you may be getting fried…. Oh, and sunscreen makes spin art type of patterns all over the place when you try to apply it while driving 60 mph.
  3. I’ve let my hair grow to a medium length and well wind spells “tangles” and results in wind blown, frizzy, messy hair. So if I want to not look like Cousin Itt while driving the jeep I have to put it up in a cap or pony tail.
  4. I don’t get to drive it as much as I’d like, but Casey is pretty good at sharing a little :-).
