Miss Dolly

It just so happens that our trip to the coast has an unexpected visitor. Hurricane Dolly is just off the very south coast of Texas about 300 miles or so from us but the storm surge here is unreal. If I knew how to surf and had a board, I could hang ten on these babies (although this photo doesn’t really do them justice, I’d say 6-8ft swells) –

Massive Surf

We tried to hit the beach but the surge is actually reaching all the way to the dunes and the wind is whipping up sand and salt creating a haze and putting a nice fine film over everything. Z Man couldn’t hold onto the body board without it blowing away so we retreated quite quickly to the pool and swam for just a bit.

Mr. Aidan

See isn’t he cute??? We are keeping an eye on the storm and the condo closed the hurricane shutters on our patio until Thursday (although others are open) so we don’t have much of a view, actually no view at all. We’ll have fun and I’m sure there will be lots of fun things to do!!!
