Good Habits

Big C and I never really had to talk about our education choices for the boys. We both sort of somehow agreed on what we wanted without having to discuss it because we were both on the very same page. We knew we wanted them to go to private school. I’m not necessarily snubbing public school, we just didn’t see it as a fit for our family. We found a wonderful Montessori based school close to work where the boys have been attending since they were just shy of 4 years old. Z Man will be 7 this year (holy cow) and will have completed the 1st grade at his school which is as high as it goes, Casey J will stay for next school year to complete his 1st grade there. We are in the somewhat stressful process of finding Z Man’s next school. In the mean time they both bring home homework folders each Monday and they are due each Friday.

Working the pencil

We’ve made a routine of working a little harder Monday – Wednesday night so they can have it all done on Wednesday night and then have four days not to worry about homework. We review for any tests on Thursday if we need to. Homework is pretty much my gig, so we’ve formed some certain routines. While it was very stressful at first with Casey J he now cannot wait to get home and do his homework for the day, he has that confidence now.

Not Mad, Just Concentrating

And the Zach Attack, well homework seems to be pretty darn easy for him if he’s not distracted. I barely have to check his math work. I caught them in the process of doing their work last week,  I’m pretty sure they are forming good study habits even now at this young age and I hope they stick…
