The Barn Door

We’re building a barn. Oh yes, you read that right. We – (as in Big C and I) – are building – (as in buying the material and constructing it ourselves) – a barn – (a 10×20 foot storage barn with a gambrel roof and a 4 foot door). This barn is going to take the place of the $60 a month we spend on a storage unit a few miles down the road and we hope to have it finished by the end of this month. This barn will also have an expanded roof off the back end to create a covered patio work area so that we can have a place to do our next and much larger projects. After the barn we plan on adding a back deck which will eventually become more square footage for the house and allow the boys to possibly have their own rooms when they get a bit older.

We spent pretty much every free moment this weekend getting the walls up and we got the roof framing up this evening (in between cooking the mac and cheese and helping with homework). Saturday however we had the new babysitter come and watch the boys for a few hours. We were both so tired and sore we had barely enough energy for a nice dinner and a short visit at a friends house. Good news is that the boys really like Miss Ash and she seemed to enjoy watching them. She has experience watching kids and seems very dependable. She’ll be watching the boys a few days a week during the summer so that we can get some work done at the shop and they won’t be bored or just watching tv all day.

More pictures of the barn to come soon, it actually looks like we may know what we are doing!
